“Believe me, stealing is a lucrative job!”

Fennik thought that every profession has its own values and purposes for being. That’s why he insisted that because he was a thief, he ought to be the best of them all. Going big or staying home, right? Due to his “masterpieces,” such as the Great Heist of the Luxis City Treasury and the Theft of the Secret Treasures of Fort Alchemy, Fennik rose to prominence in the field.

Never leaving empty-handed was one of Fennik’s guiding ideals. He never failed, whether he was robbing a bank or just stealing from people on the street. Naturally, if it turned out that his unfortunate target was extremely poor, he would not only add a little extra to the item he had taken before returning it, which was a welcome surprise for the victim.

A charitable deed? No, I simply want to make sure my pigs are well-fed before I butcher them, Fennik would reply. You see, Fennik’s first rule was to help the poor so that they would have a wonderful life someday, and his second rule was to never leave the target without means of survival. After all, there would be more targets to steal from if there were more wealthy people. Fennik believed that improving people’s quality of life would inevitably result in a wider range of opportunities for those in his trade, whereas idly amassing wealth would merely increase competition in the thieving sector. We would have no one else to steal from if we become wealthier than everyone else, wouldn’t you say?

Fennik was a legendary rascal who was well-known to everyone in the Moonlit Plains. Despite being quite the strategist, he was actually a better combatant. At a young age, he had already out-ranked many of his predecessors on the Wanted List of the Federation of the Free, and eventually even snagged the top spot on the ranking. Even the legendary Officer Locke was at a loss as to how to handle him.

Jeez, calm down! I’m here to rob you, not to save your life.
