Liliana (The Elegant)
Liliana had gone to every continent for countless years.
Liliana, one of Athanor’s oldest living creatures, was created when the planet was still in chaos and all creatures subsisted solely on instinct. As she continued to look for the essence of the universe and the wellspring of power, Liliana carved out her own path of discovery in the chaotic realm. She was interested in learning more about the origins of life, the meaning of death, and the past, present, and future. Liliana transformed into various forms and saw life through the eyes of various species in order to be successful in her search for answers.
The first sentient creature Liliana came across was a Nine-tailed Fox. She saw the Fox as her mentor and advisor, and she was so greatly influenced by the animal that she later began referring to herself as a Nine-tailed Fox. Liliana quickly acquired a lot of knowledge thanks to her master’s guidance and what she observed while on her own travels. She was aware, though, that she still had a long way to go before discovering the final solution to everything. She made the decision to live alone, giving herself time to carefully process and reflect on everything she had learnt. She would nevertheless leave her seclusion every few hundred years to gain new knowledge and understanding.
Liliana encountered Humans on her previous expedition and was able to get near to them to watch them. Liliana used to have little interest in humans because they were uninteresting and at best ordinary in all facets, including powers, spirituality, and constitution. But when she discovered more about the Humans’ quest for knowledge and the methods they passed along their traditions, she soon grew fascinated by their creative problem-solving and started paying close attention to their discoveries and improvements. Liliana changed into a Human whenever one of them made a great leap so she could study from Human experts.
Humans were frequently attacked by Abyssal Beings during the Dark Era. Liliana didn’t want to just stand by and see people suffer, so she employed cunning means to drop clues and tricks about using magic occasionally to help Humans through the trying times. She concluded from her observations that if Humans made it through this period of darkness, they would probably be able to build a civilization that had never been seen before, giving rise to new knowledge and abilities and bringing her that much closer to the solution she was looking for. She viewed the assistance she provided to Humans as a form of investment since, if it enabled her to achieve her goals, why not? Liliana smiled and retreated into concealment, full of optimism for the future.
After a few hundred years, Liliana was astonished to say the least when she once more entered Human civilisation. Her familiar fires and candles were replaced by crystal lamps that could simultaneously illuminate thousands of homes and were engraved with amazing patterns. Many of the Human Warriors no longer wielded the blades and swords she had knew, preferring instead sleek, highly potent artificial rifles and cannons instead. These advancements, which Humans referred to as “technology,” fundamentally altered Liliana’s perspective of the world.
For Liliana, who was ready to ingest whatever new information that became accessible, it was the perfect sequence of circumstances. But even someone with her level of understanding would need many decades or even centuries to process everything, not to mention the fact that new innovations seemed to be made almost daily. Liliana made the decision to change into a Human and enlist in the Empirical Army as a Communications Officer, who was free to travel the Continent and gather information. Her position would make it very easy for her to accomplish all she desired. Of course, it also brought her new foes, but Liliana didn’t mind helping Humans by eliminating these annoyances.
“That’ll just be deducted from my tuition.”
