Valhein (The Demon Hunter)

The Demon Hunters, lead by Valhein, had been traveling through enemy territory at the eastern Gobi desert for weeks.
The Allied Army had moved their main forces to the front in a last-ditch effort to eliminate two significant German contingents, working in two routes in the north and south. The plan put forth by Thane, the commander-in-chief of the Allied Army, was unquestionably the one that would put an end to the conflict the quickest, but it also meant that when Murad barged in with news of the unrest in the eastern desert region, there was not a single troop available in the entire Alliance that could assist him.
In the end, a legion of “New Demon Hunters” had to be assembled from representatives of the Council, the Norman Kingdom, and the Federation of the Free in order to carry out the honorable mission of eradicating the newly discovered foes. This adaptable and quick troop was intended to enter the combat themselves, not following in the footsteps of their forebears in the history books and removing bothersome invaders from the army’s rear.
“Our numerical disadvantage is significant. We have more elite fighters on our side, but we have maintained a low profile while the adversaries are around and easy targets. After a cursory review of the battlefield reports, Valhein, the Deputy Commander of the Demon Hunters, concluded that if we decide to attack rather than defend, we will be in a better position. He asserted that the Demon Hunters were not a typical tactical troop after all, despite their competence and great equipment. Advanced equipment might be burdensome if their strategy was to travel deeply into enemy territory with minimal supplies.
The military meeting’s participants unanimously agreed with the plan Valhein had suggested. His former Commander turned ranger, Violet, agreed with his views.
So that awkward, wide-eyed youngster has developed into a superb Commander, eh? Violet laughed.
Valhein let out a sigh of relief and rubbed his cheeks when he realized that the elder was the only person still in the tent. Violet, his longtime partner in crime, was well aware that it was his method of stress relief.
It’s challenging, huh? to maintain such a fantastic team? Purple said. She appeared to be consoling Valhein while also questioning herself as she took a serious tone in her speech.
I still have a long way to go before I can match your and the elderly man’s greatness. Valhein grinned. “When you were in charge, you led us to become the best army in the entire Federation while still finding time for manicures and brow grooming. That was really something, huh?
“Be quiet. You are well aware that if I hadn’t quit, you would never have the opportunity to succeed me. Valhein was lightly teased while Violet giggled.
Valhein ignored what she said and carried on. In truth, I’m terrified. You everyone supported my plan, but I’m still concerned. There is no backup, and the environment is hostile. If something were to happen, we might very well perish. You already know that I’m not afraid of dying because I’ve had a will prepared from the day I enlisted in the army. However, I don’t want my team or my brothers to perish as a result of my choice. You know, they all have families. They don’t have attachments to anyone as we do.
“Don’t put too much strain on yourself. Being the Commander, it is your primary responsibility to win the war. You don’t have full control over the risks and sacrifices you make along the path, and you never will. You must develop an acceptance of that. Violet hesitated before carrying on. “You’ve excelled right from the start. Even the elderly man and I couldn’t have performed any better.
Valhein mumbled, “Thank you. Thanks for the warm words. and for coming back to assist us.
Geez, you dummy! Valhein received a headslap from Violet. “The money is why I’m here,”
Valhein saluted while raising his right hand. It seemed like the correct thing to do in some way.
Violet wasn’t truly present for the commission, he was aware of that. Both humans and legions had souls. No Demon Hunters legion warrior, whether retired or not, could ever forget the honor and duty that came with the designation. The soul of the legion resided there.
We do not snooze. We reap the lives of demons.
“We have blades on us. We locate those who came from the Abyss and kill them.
“We believe in our brothers. We eliminate everyone else together.
“Death is not something we fear. So hear our call to arms!
Valhein allowed himself to be inspired by the strength and bravery of the helpless humans who first battled the Demons a thousand years ago as he silently chanted the ancient Demon Hunter promise.
“We fight when there is darkness!”
