Violet (The Pistol Assassin)

“I loathe sand! I despise storms! My life is awful! There isn’t even enough water for a shower, for crying out loud!
The Demon Hunters trekked forward at the edge of the Desert of Death, sand blowing harshly in their faces. Violet loathed this primitive, raw, and savage realm of sand, wishing with all her might that she could only wrap herself in thick layers of fabric. She shouldn’t have been allowed to participate in this mission given her current situation, but she did so out of guilt for the legionnaires, whom she thought of as her own children.
Few of them understood why Violet, the second Commander in Chief of the Demon Hunters and the replacement for Federation General Hartford, refused to pursue the opportunity for promotion and insisted on looking into the scandals of corruption that rocked the Federation even though it was not her job to do so.
Even though she was only able to capture a few cunning maggots, numerous suspects in more powerful positions ended up being cleared. For instance, Quillen, a member of the Federation Congress, was exonerated of embezzlement and it was later revealed that he had made numerous anonymous donations to help citizens who had lost property as a result of the new laws he had sponsored. Violet soon came under suspicion for conducting unauthorized investigations, which put her in hot water both legally and morally. She volunteered to give up her retirement pension to keep the people quiet and resigned her office promptly to prevent damage.
After that, Violet changed into a ranger who survived by taking on missions for the Federation’s bounty hunters. She occasionally traveled to other countries as a free mercenary after leaving the region. With so much to discover, unrestricted freedom, and no set route, she was happy living this lifestyle. She offered to rejoin her old crew, nevertheless, without hesitation as soon as she learned about the Demon Hunters’ forthcoming excursion.
Violet had already told Old General Hartford that “some things must be done” before she made the decision to look into the corruption, and now she was saying it once more to her former Demon Hunter colleagues while still “doing things,” keeping loyal to her words.
The exploration team had previously spent several weeks in hostile country. They implemented the plan developed by Valhein, the deputy commander of the legion, and destroyed a number of monster lairs, preventing the Inferi from using the monsters on the front lines. As the Demon Hunters conducted their operations, their friend Murad also mobilized rebels around the country by using his position as the former Prince of the Empire to undertake raids on Azzen’Ka mines and cities.
The paucity of supplies started to worry the allies as the battle intensified. Only a small amount of food and drinkable water could be obtained from the Empire survivors by the Murad-led Rebels. The lack of medical supplies rendered them unable to continue. Even the Valhein had succumbed to heat exhaustion and only managed to survive through sheer force of will.
Violet was proposed as the new Deputy Commander in order to guarantee a speedy conclusion to the conflict. After all, she was the only candidate with the necessary qualifications for the job.
There was little possibility they would succeed in their goal if they continued to toil.
They could at least reassemble for a subsequent battle if they fled.
But Violet still had to make a difficult choice.
What option would you have made, old man? She addressed the mental picture of Hartford when she inquired. After all was said and done, the honored man was the one who had seen her potential and elevated her from a Junior Officer in the Investigation Bureau to Commander of the Elite Squad. Even though she vehemently denied any wrongdoing on her part, she couldn’t help but feel remorse for this wonderful elderly man who had done so much for her.
The Hartford in her brain said, “I might not carry on the attack, but I sure as hell wouldn’t retreat.” Violet recalled that he was known as the one-eyed demon by Valhein and the youngsters. Hartford nevertheless drew out his charmed gun and shot the Demons’ heads to bits despite loosing an eye to them. He was obviously not the type to give up.
“Everyone!” Violet made the new idea known after making up her mind. “Divide into teams of 10, dress in disguise, and meld into the towns, mines, and tribes. Feel free to launch a guerrilla battle wherever it is most practical.
One Captain and two Vice Captains who make battle choices must be on each team. It is approved if two out of the three people agree. Orders from the Commander will be relayed by the Captain.
Please coordinate with and aid our guerrilla wars as much as you can, rebels operating for Prince Murad. The rebels must transport the ill and wounded to a place where there is no fighting.
The goal of this operation is to shut down as many enemy military production facilities as you can and give them as much time as you can to be ready for war. Violet bit her lip as she swept her gaze past the countless pairs of fixed eyes in front of her. Attack enemy targets while maintaining the operation in whatever way you can.
Recall that we are not alone. All members of the Allies Army and intelligent life in general who battle for justice and honor are our allies. Violet pumped her fist up and raised her arm. “We’ll demonstrate to them the quality of the Demon Hunters! We’ll demonstrate to them the actual power of the Federation’s strongest legion!
“Demon Hunters, advance!”
