Master Arena of Valor with our tips for beginners
With these tricks, you may easily advance through the ranks in Arena of Valor, the hottest new MOBA right now, and challenge the top players on the planet.
You cannot have missed Arena of Valor’s meteoric rise to the top of the charts if you recently opened the Google Play or iTunes App Store. This game has long been among the most popular in China, and it is now making its way to the West to keep us all addicted to our smartphones and tablets.
The majority of mobile games are not like Arena of Valor, though. This is a full 5v5 MOBA on your phone, with three lanes, a full jungle, and everything you’d expect in a PC MOBA. In fact, as this is developed by Riot Games owners Tencent, it has more than a few similarities to League of Legends. It doesn’t have one simple core mechanic like Angry Birds, or combine a number of good ideas into a new experience like Clash Royale.
Even though it’s still early, the western debut appears to have gone well; as we have personally observed, many of the players have already mastered every skill. The matchmaking systems work well, however we’ve seen many people that always seemed to know what to do, and we lost those games, as you could anticipate.
When you join in and play Arena of Valor, make sure you don’t suffer the same fate by following these winning strategies that we have developed.

- begin with a single hero
It’s tempting to test out every hero available when you first start playing a new MOBA, but if you want to start winning games in Arena of Valor, it probably isn’t the best course of action. At first, it’s preferable to choose one or two heroes and stick with them until the wins start coming in regularly. Sure, knowing what every hero does is really valuable and something you’ll need to learn at some point.
The hero you employ in the tutorial, Valhein, as well as characters like Gildur and Fennik are solid choices because they are all beginner-friendly and can succeed in just about every lane in the early going. You can gradually expand to more heroes, but for the first few hours, it’s far wiser to focus on mastering a handful. - Prepare yourself to play forcefully
When playing MOBAs with a mouse, it is frequently preferable to concentrate on obtaining those crucial last hits in lane rather than waste time annoying an opponent. However, chunking down your opponent in the lane in Arena of Valor can be very effective. Many people are content to take damage and remain in lane because all of the outside towers have a heal regen back behind them and everyone has a heal spell. However, if you can keep track of when they use both heals, you might be in line for a free kill.
The sooner both of those heals are burned, the sooner you can jump onto them and get the first blood bonus for yourself. If you poke them down hard enough, they will eventually burn both of those heals.
They may believe they can fight you toe-to-toe, but as long as you can at least keep up with them, you can typically win the battle with the heals at your disposal. In Arena of Valor, early leads are crucial, and an early lane kill can be the ideal way to launch your victory snowball. - Utilize the jungle
In spite of the jungle’s size in Arena of Valor, few players appear to make the most of it. The jungle camps can be a great last resort for many heroes because there is a lot of gold to be found there. Why not just fall back and take a couple jungle camps instead of trying to fight 1v3 if you are having trouble in your lane and your opponents send two or three to try and take your tower early? Yes, you might lose a tower, but you’ll still live and collect gold and experience.
Choosing a hero who can jungle right away is an excellent idea once you’ve gotten pretty proficient. The rest of your team must be on board with having a jungler, of course, as losing a lane due to a 1v2 may be disastrous, but if your team is strong, taking a jungler is a wonderful method to dominate the map and not many teams appear to be doing it at the moment.

- Use expert guides
You may find some of the greatest builds for each character and equip them as your default build using a helpful little system that is tucked away in the options. Yes, you can research the best builds for yourself, but if you equip a pro build, the suggested items that appear will correspond to those that the top players use. Even though not all of them will always function, they all represent an upgrade over the default builds that the game suggests. While there should always be some variation depending on the circumstance, generally speaking, following these pro builds will be more than sufficient to excel in that area. - Team up to play.
The same is true for many MOBAs, however winning in this MOBA truly requires teamwork. While we have experienced some incredible 1v3 victories, most of the time we succeed by forming a team with a few teammates and ganking any lane we can find. If your lane is clearly yours to win, you might attempt switching to another lane to support a different teammate. Since comebacks aren’t very common in this game, winning lanes and getting out to a strong start seems to be the greatest strategy for victory. After the initial few minutes, try never to enter a fight alone. Instead, communicate, team up, and gank.
