Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC) returns on June 19

May 12, 2021 – This summer, the Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC) will formally return. The AWC 2021, organized by Tencent Games and Garena, will bring together the top Arena of Valor (AOV) teams from around the world as they compete for the title of best in the world and a share of the US$500,000 prize pool.

The AWC 2021 will be hosted online from June 19 to July 18 in order to keep providing the AOV community with engaging and competitive esports content while putting everyone’s safety first. The AWC 2021 will introduce fans to an immersive virtual concept to provide spectators with a profoundly engaging experience in order to take use of the benefits of the digital format.

The AWC 2021 will carry on the AOV esports history of providing fans with an unmatched level of competitiveness in the mobile MOBA genre. The top teams from eight regions—Brazil, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Thailand, and Vietnam—will compete in the AWC this year. Three teams, one from each region’s professional league, will each represent Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam.

There will be four stages of the AWC 2021:

From June 19 to June 27, group stage
June 30 through July 4: quarterfinals
10–11 July are semi-finals.
Ultimate: July 18

The prize pool for the AWC 2021 will be US$500,000, making it one of the largest worldwide esports reward pools for mobile MOBA competitions. The winner will receive US$200,000, and the first runner-up will receive US$110,000 from the prize money.

The theme of the AWC in 2021 will be “Fight Together, Rise Together,” which intends to inspire the AOV community to stand by one another in these trying times. The theme also pays tribute to the fervent team, player, and fan base that has supported AOV over the years. AOV esports competitions are still among the most well-liked mobile esports events worldwide. The final AWC event in 2019 attracted more than 74.5 million cumulative views and over 855,000 peak concurrent viewers, representing impressive increases of 126% and 36% in comparison to the US-only event in 2018 respectively.
